September 16th Journal Entry-German boat shelled


Sept. 16-Went to group for dinner with Bill then to 330 Inf for evening service, then to fortress on tip
Saw German boat shelled.

Battalion History: Fierce enemy counterattacks reported in vicinity of Fort Mountberry. In  Recouvrance Sector , 29th makes good progress against diminishing resistance. Enemy holds its ground on Crozon peninsula despite heavy artillery fire

Dearest mom & all, Got your letter of Sept. 3 a few days ago but have been so darn busy that I haven't had time to touch correspondence.
