September 5th Journal Entry-Restful day



Sept 5- Restful day
Hot sponge bath.
5:10 PM P38, B17 collide & crash E of Brest-saw both coming down-
Pay day- 897 franks-
100s Frank money order.

Marilu: Lu had been washing in cold creeks, so the luxury of heating water to sponge bathe with was a red letter item this day. The little comforts loom large in these situations.

The plane crash must have been very dramatic. These were two of our planes, so it is extra sad.

Was the money order to send home to Leona and Lynne, or was he paid with a money order?

Dearest mom & all, Got your letter of Sept. 3 a few days ago but have been so darn busy that I haven't had time to touch correspondence.
