September 6th Journal Entry-Bombing of Brest




Sept 6th
3500 ton bombs on Brest in last 4 days- Watched bombs fall thru transit.

Stoves working fine-Cheese toastwiches-

Watch Band Courtesy Tomy Fourshee and German Helmet band

Marilu: At first I thought he watched a band called the German Helmet band, but I realized finally that Tomy Fourshee gave him a looted watch band and a band from a German helmet.


There are a number of different types of helmet bands. This looks like one Lu might have been excited to get.

    I didn't know what a band on the outside of the helmet was for. I found they were used to hold leaves or a cover for camouflage.

Dearest mom & all, Got your letter of Sept. 3 a few days ago but have been so darn busy that I haven't had time to touch correspondence.
