Journal Entry Dec 17-Survey and Convoy Retreat





Dec. 17
Out at 08:30 SE of St. Vith- Put in mic 1 in forest where entire 9th armor was massed shoulder to shoulder in edges of woods all types & sizes-

P 47 degrees 51 seconds bombing German advance through heavy flack-

Mason gave us C.S. M. O. as we were putting in mix 2-
German tanks approaching St. Vith from Schonberg-

Picked up wet laundry-

Out surveying SW of St. Vith- B. S. M. O. again convoyed B. O. to Langlin SW of Govey-

Slept in barn-no supper.

    I either didn't know or had forgotten that Dad was at St Vith at the beginning of the Battle. It's so amazing that he was right between Malmedy and Bastogne. He could have been caught in either one!

Dearest mom & all, Got your letter of Sept. 3 a few days ago but have been so darn busy that I haven't had time to touch correspondence.
