Feb 4 Triangulation to Amelsheid. Germans used 771st log cabins for stables. Long ride around with Thompson.
Cliff Hope: We left early the next morning to move to a barn at Wiesenbach, southeast of St. Vith on the road to Prum. Part of the party went out in the rain for triangulation near Amelscheid but I stayed in, going with Gindele to take out chow. A peacock was chased out of the barn when we moved in. Later in the day, my diary noted, "Some moron from A or B battery fired about 15 carbine shots until he had killed it. No wonder these people believe some of the things the Jerries tell them about us."
