| From Cliff Hope's Book, Growing up in the Wartime Army |
Feb. 5 moved to barn in Breitfeld S of St Vith. Barn very aerated.
Cliff Hope: The fan belt on Kiser's truck broke as we started out for survey near Schonberg on the following morning. It turned out to be a slow, depressing day. I shaved and washed. A new order had been handed down----"wash and shave everyday-all buttons buttoned, etc.," a diary entry said.
Marilu: As the troops move in to occupy German land was there some self consciousness about how the battle weary troops would appear as compared to the German soldiers?
