Feb. 6th Trig. to Justenschlag Germany. Set up on BM. by pill box. Half truck & A.T. gun there. Germans throwing rockets at Brandscheid (radio reports counter attack at Shong Pt. in Siegrfied line)
Cliff Hope: Triangulating beyond Schonberg the next day, I kept notes for Kiser. From the Bleialf benchmark, we could see across the valley to the top of a far ridge, supposedly the location of the front lines. At the end of another dismal, rainy day, we were called over to the battery command post to hear a lieutenant read the Articles of War. In my diary, I wrote "...a sad affair. This means the Lt. was a sorry excuse for an officer." I closed with, "How long can this life go on---cheer up, Hope, old kid---only a few more years now."

Marilu: I think the articles of war the army wanted to emphasize at this time probably concerned the conduct of the soldier as they entered into the enemy territory they were taking control of. .
